PURCHASING MANAGER
Our client is a major player in the hospitality industry. They are looking for a Purchasing Manager to join a purchasing team of 5 in the Luton Head Office.
Responsible for purchasing a range of areas including non consumables, utilities and stationary etc. To work with supplies on price reductions, sourcing of alternative products and providing office support for the team.
Permanent
£40000 to £45000 per annum
Responsibilities
• Work with suppliers to provide best product at most cost effective pricing.
• Work with the marketing and operator teams to source new items.
• Build long term relationships with suppliers.
• Provide detailed monthly on supplier spend/volumes and cost saving opportunities.
• On going review of supply chain, managing suppliers and contract renegotiations.
• Admin duties including the production of spread sheets and collating information from sites.
• Deal with phone and email queries.
• Look for improvements in recycling etc.
• Look at supplier and product consolidation.
Experience
• Previous experience in purchasing is a must and predominately in the non consumables sector.
• Must have computer skills including spreadsheet work.
• Flexible, team player.
Benefits
Salary: £40k - £45k
Hrs: 9am - 5pm

You will ideally have some sub-contract experience, though that is not essential as our client are happy to look at candidates with Materials & Plant Procurement experience obtained from working within either another Construction or Civils Contractor or a House Building Company. If this is the case you should have a drive and eagerness about you to develop Sub-contract Procurement skills and knowledge in order to grow and progress within the company.

Overall Purpose/Objectives of Role
To purchase materials and services to meet the Company’s cost, quality and delivery requirements.
Key duties:
1. To place purchase orders and action MAX data as required.
2. To manage suppliers to achieve improvements in cost, quality and delivery in accordance with business KPI’s.
3. To manage inventory in line with business objectives.
4. To raise and process relevant documentation for returning defective parts to suppliers.
5. To liaise as necessary with sub-contractors and materials control to ensure continuity of supply. Support IMT meetings and maintenance of Man Plans.
6. To maintain MAX system, ensuring MRP purchasing-related data is accurate.
7. To progress suppliers as required by MRP demand date.
8. To maintain purchase order status (by amendments).
9. To report MRP data statistics to the Assistant Purchasing Manager on a weekly basis.
10. To attend meetings as required.
Experience:
Essential
• Previous experience of purchasing electro-mechanical goods
• Previous experience of working within a sub-contract environment
• Ability to assess a supplier’s capability and develop good working relationship with them
• In-depth knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
• Previous experience in negotiating best terms on price, delivery and service
• Previous experience of internal customer liaison
• Good understanding of the need to satisfy customer demands and expectations
• Understanding of the commodity marketplace
• Strong negotiating skills
• Good team player
• Ability to work on own initiative
• Good time management skills
• Ability to problem solve
• Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Goal orientated
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Understanding of the importance of satisfying both internal and external customers.
Able to understand the balance required within business for inventory and cash management without impacting Sales output.
CIPS Qualified with proven buying experience within an electro-mechanical environment
Or
Extensive acknowledged and recognised buying experience within an electro-mechanical environment and with other appropriate qualification i.e. HNC or degree. With some formal Procurement training.
Able to work overtime when required
Current driving licence
Able to undertake occasional UK travel
