Purchasing Assistant Starting £17-19,000
Key Tasks:
· Assisting with all purchasing activities within commodity groups, as may be required.
· Purchasing goods and services at the least total cost.
· Progressing outstanding orders.
· All clerical duties arising from the above including accurate maintenance of computer files, filing of quotes and purchase order duplicates and invoice processing.
· Schedule deliveries in line with production requirements.
· Assist Supply Chain Manager and Purchasing Supervisor in developing suitable supplier relationships and reducing inventory.
· Other duties as required.
Additional requirements:
· Comply fully with internal and external Quality audits.
· Be responsible for the well being and health and safety to fellow workers.
· Work within the guidelines set out in the Works Procedure Manual and the Quality Procedure Manual.
· Contribute to the future growth and profitability of the company.
Person Specification:
· CIPS part or full qualified (company will sponsor completion of CIPS).
· 1-2 years buying experience ideally, including negotiation and expediting.
· Keen to develop career within the area of purchasing.
· MRP knowledge.
· Knowledge of purchasing processes.
· Team player.
· Good communicator.
· Willing to learn and undertake an amount of admin work.

Summary of role:
Managing the planning and forecasting for a range of parts to optimise inventory and availability in a fast-moving electronics service environment.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Control stock levels in relation to product support lifecycles.
- Minimise “stock out’s” to meet customer performance delivery targets’.
- Manage and minimise excess stock to target levels by identifying and managing the safety stock levels for each commodity.
- Select best method of forecasting and recommend purchases to achieve optimum inventory levels.
- Issue, monitor and report accuracy for vendor forecasts.
- Identify and report both internally and externally risk associated with product portfolio.
Experience/skills:
- Qualifications which show a strong analytical or mathematical background.
- High level of IT literacy to include strong excel skills.
- Good eye for detail to ensure data accuracy.
- Confidence and Assertiveness.
- Experience using planning and forecasting systems.
- Experience communicating with key suppliers and customers on a regular basis.
- A good understanding of business processes particularly relating to service parts planning, supply chain.
- Experience in electronics or similar fast-paced industry would be an advantage.

- Determine purchasing needs through requests / forecasting.
- Involved in Sourcing and contact vendors.
- Negotiate terms for procurement of supplies and / or equipment.
Requirements:
Purchasing experience in manufacturing environment of medium volume, custom products. Knowledge of manufacturing process.
