Official title of the role: Supplier Performance Manager - Engineering (railways)

The key aim of procurement is to contract with the right suppliers at the right price for the best quality products and service and to ensure the efficient management of the supply base for all our operating businesses.
JOB PURPOSE
Key objectives of the role are to maximise value (price reduction, reduced operating costs, cost avoidance, etc) by working with Engineering and individual TOC's to deliver procurement projects for Services, Materials and Capital Expenditure.
The role also includes taking the commercial lead for key strategic Engineering suppliers to extract further post-award contract value through improved performance and efficiency and supplier collaboration. Development of post-contract supplier work programmes and score carding to improve value is central to the procurement strategy.
The role will also include supporting the rail team with input on supply chain design, contract specifications, PQQ and ITT definitions and criteria.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
" Track record of managing supplier performance and score carding, and of delivering year-on-year improvements in supplier value - ESSENTIAL
" Sourcing goods & services through competitive tender (using e-Sourcing tool), SLA/KPI writing/interpretation, contract drafting
" Good knowledge of current best practice in supplier management.
" Structured collaboration and problem-solving skills e.g. 6-sigma
" Demonstrable negotiating skills, including planning and organisation
" Excellent analytical and data management skills
" Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with every business function and discipline throughout the Group
" Educated to degree standard or MCIPS Qualified
" Knowledge of OJEU process and EU Procurement Directives (Utilities).
" Previous experience of Rail Engineering Services and Materials procurement including knowledge of the contractual framework of the rail industry. Or another similar industry
" Ability to work individually and as part of a team.

" To lead cross-functional teams focused on supplier & value improvement
" To lead supplier development programmes as required
" To produce reports on a monthly basis in preparation for the periodic REM and EMB reports
" To produce regular KPI's with Key Suppliers including a quarterly scorecard
COMMUNICATIONS AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
" Regular communications with suppliers, procurement team, stakeholders within the business and project focused teams
