Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Reporting into the Head of Operations you will be the lead manufacturing engineer for the business, ensuring best practice processes are developed for our client. You will be responsible for applying, maintaining and improving lean manufacturing procedures, as well as play a lead role in developing processes whilst supporting the implementation of a new ERP solution

As the Manufacturing Engineering Manager your key responsibilities will include:
Identify and implement improvements to equipment, processes and methods.
Identify and manage opportunities for cost-out.
To support improvements to material and information flows (eliminate NVA).
Custodian of ERP Bom and Routing data & ME owned parameters.
Gate keeper for product designs ensuring manufacturing capability and cost targets are met.
Define and implement production test strategies.
Ensure operational compliance with Company procedures and Quality requirements.
Identify and drive improvement initiative to reduce costs and improve on time delivery, work closely with other CME sites to share best practice and develop synergies.
Applies standard change control procedures and provides leadership in order to engage the team in continuously improving their performance.
As the Manufacturing Engineering Manager your qualifications and experience should include:
Engineering/Manufacturing Degree or equivalent
Experience in a manufacturing/engineering capacity with solid experience within an Aerospace environment
Experience of managing/leading a business unit or function either in a management or supervisory capacity
Demonstrable experience of strategic input into a department and/or function
What we expect from you

Sound financial and commercial knowledge and some experience of managing budgets, allocating costs, forecasting.
Good level of report writing and adept with most IT packages

Principal Tasks and Responsibilities
- Operate in a safe manner and ensure that the required quality standards are maintained.
- Project manage a range of short, medium and long term initiatives that have been identified as business requirements. The SCIE will define the necessary improvements to processes and procedures that fall within the scope of th eproject, using recognised change management techniques such as DMAIC, and will be authorised to implement these changes.
- Deliver savings in total cost by managing the implementation of changes identified as part of the project DMAIC process, as above
- Develop and manage a benefits tracking model to evidence the savings in total cost delivered by Supploer Development Activities.
- By employing Lean Principles and Continuous Improvement methodology, assess processes, equipment and manufacturing capability for efficiency, relevance and performance. This is to be achieved by compilation of investigative information, analysis of the data, identification of root causes and identifying corrective actions.
- Manage cross functional teams to define problems, measure, analyse, improve and control supply chain performance.
- Utilisation of MOBI tools to provide measurement of performance alongside current contract KPIs. Analyse data to understand validity and identify trends in data. Train other members of staff in the use of these tools for performance monitoring.
- Undertake Trend Analysis for the performance of key suppliers identified through the Continuous Improvement process and generate reports giving recommendations and prorities for future change to inform the Supplier Improvement Plan.
- Develop, manage and deliver the SBU Supplier Improvement Plan, creating CSIP's with suppliers where appropriate and facilitating contribution to these activities including internal stakeholder engagement.
- Delivering optimised processes to drive improved productivity, minimum energy consumption, maximum process efficiency and minimum total system cost; this is to be delivered wihin the internal and external supply chain.
- Improve the quality of the product to sustainable levels and drive down defects in materials, end products and any inputs to an ALARP level by undertaking learning from experience engineering reviews.
- Provide recommendations in the selection, management and control of sub-contractors.
- Ensure a Continuous Improvement culture is adopted and fostered thorughout the Supply Chain.
- Own the development of metrics to drive supply chain performance improvement.
- Organise and manage the SBU supplier performance meeting on a monthly basis, ensuring the attendance of Quality Manager, Head of Supply Chain and Supply Chain Manager. Documentation of the meeting and briefing of the wider procurement team and utilising the information gathered to inform the Supplier Improvement Plan.
- Setting up and conducting meetings with the appropriate management of Suppliers/Subcontractors as part of improvement initiatives.
- Conduct investigations as determined by the Supply Chain Manager.
- To provide authoritative advice on Continuous Improvement related matters to all levels of management within the Business Unit.
- To manage improvement intiatives (and associated project teams) as agreed with the Supply Chain Manager.
- To provide Technical and Professional advice on Lean process selection, and appropriate application of improvement tools, to all levels of management within the business unit.
Experience and Qualifications
- HNC Or equivalent in an engineering based discipline.
- Six Sigma qualification.
- Strong problem solving, statistical and analytical skills.
- Effective communication skills both writtne and oral.

We are looking for a keen, dedicated and dynamic CAD Operator to join our expanding team based at our Head Office in Christchurch, Dorset.
The ideal candidate will have extensive CAD experience within a retail environment and must have an advanced knowledge of graphic packages- Spaceman, Retail Focus and AutoCAD.
You must be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and be adaptable to the ever changing working environment. You will have excellent time management skills along with the ability to work within a team and to tight deadlines.
You will be required to attend store sites from time to time so must hold a valid driving licence.
